You might want to look at this first result

I recall he mentioned (Ted) why there are discrepancies, I think something like if you are loading up on alkaline, then the acids are pushed out, showing up in the urine. Something like that.

Also I think you are supposed to wait a couple of hours after eating to check saliva.

I have studied this for sometime and I think I have a grasp on it. Magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium are all alkalizing minerals. It is my opinion that one of the issues with acid conditions is a lack of these minerals which don't show up in standard american diets, particularly magnesium. I would get a hair analysis test done by Trace Elements and evaluate your mineral levels. I betcha you are weak in magnesium and potassium. Do not use magnesium oxide, it is poorly absorbed, use something like UltraMag from Source Naturals.

I know a couple of people who use Ted's alkalizing formula and have gotten great results. I lean towards using potassium bicarbonate rather than baking soda which is sodium bicarbonate, but the former is a little harder to find. It will raise ph.

I think the other issue with acid ph is the prescense of toxins or oxidation. The use of antioxidants should help in this. I like vitamin C but not as ascorbic acid which is acid but the ascorbates like magnesium ascorbate, potassium ascorbate etc.
