Re: Spirituality Must be Homegrown to be Effective
Yes - agree once again with most of what you have replied.
Most especially .... "IMO though the old indigenous religious dogmas will need some reworking" ... I see this happening in the hindu "religion", even tho there are some fanatics still lurking around unfortunately, and they are the ones who usually get into the news. BTW hinduism is not a religion - its rather a "way of life" and the name Hindu was termed by some western invader.
This part tho does´nt (my apologies for being so picky!).... "What I see as its main failing in the past,is that it was so spirit oriented, yet did not prepare the people to understand the western mind through discernment, or even revelation...."
Dont quite understand why its necessary to understand the western mind: since its hard enough understanding one´s own, which in my opinion should be our first priority !! Our own minds are spirit, as in "non-physical"... there´s nowhere physical that one can say where a thought for instance came from... one used to think it was the brain and we now know that every cell has a "brain" of its own and can remember and just "knows" to put it mildly. There seems to be some misunderstanding here. Unless you mean that had they not been so spirit oriented, they may have been able to resist colonialism ?
Yes this modern tendency to copy everything that´s coming out of the western mind-set is to be deplored. Tho I do see a reversal on its way: but as you said home-grown is the best.
