birth control, cholesterol, and gallbladder

I've been on birth control pills (to control acne) for the last six months. I recently stopped taking them because recent lab work showed that my total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels were pretty elevated: Cholesterol was 250 and LDL was 150. I've never had elevated cholesterol levels, I eat a pretty healthy Diet (rarely eat animal fats), and I'm 32. Given this, I'm pretty sure the high cholesterol is directly related to the birth control pills.

I've heard that when bcps raise cholesterol levels it's because there's something wrong with the gallbladder. Does anyone have more info about this? Has anyone else experienced elevated cholesterol from bcps? Once the hormones are out of my system, will my cholesterol levels return to normal?
