How to handle my daughter?
Hi everyone,
I am in huge dilemma. I have two children. My daughter the older one and going to college for last four years. She was told that she has
Depression and has tried all kind of prescription drugs, but no avail. She has not even passed her first year of college and keeps making excuses about her depression. She is a very beautiful, good hearted person who wants to help everyone. But now she is at a stage where she dislikes everyone around her and cannot deal with common fellow students' faults or human errors. She is coming home again, but my wife wants her to just either work or go to college. My wife and I see the issue very differently. I want to find out what is wrong with her, really and help her clean her mind and body then help her think about her future, studies etc. My wie on the other hand measures everything in terms of time, money and achievement. So we also get into fights because we see this situation differently. My son is also going to go in the same path if we do not watch. I am also believer of nutrition and health, meaning if you do not eat right you will have health issues. We eat a lot of junk, processed foods. Kids now believe that bagel, donuts, pizzas etc. is everyday foods and even though they eat much better when they are at home, when they are own their own they eat more junk, candies etc. and I am sure alcohol is a new thing for them that does not help.
Sorry for the long story. I am looking for help in terms of hw do I approach my daughter now, having told her about food and nutrition, guided her to go to good naturopathic doctors. My wife says they need to have drug and therapy, which has not helped. I know the diagnosis is wrong. I want my daughter to go to a good doctor who would do some tests to find out what is wrong, pancreas, liver, thyroid? She just refuses because she says that all her friends take same or similar drugs.
Thank you.
