My nephew was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last fall. He is 13.
This is not a common cancer to begin with, especially at that age. Makes we wonder how close to a nuclear power plant that he lives, especially Hanford, Washington. The government was deliberately releasing radioactive iodine from the Hanford site for something like 50 years to test the effects on the surrounding population. It was finally exposed about 15 years ago. But there were a lot of cases of thyroid cancer from this deliberate release of radiation.
