I'm going to do a little experiment. Based on the success of jp20 using only saliva and beeswax, I am going to try covering some refined Grade A free-range emu oil with some unrefined fair-trade West African shea butter. Sound like some crazy hippie shit? We'll see.
High quality, raw shea butter supposedly has an SPF of around 6. I'm looking to combine it with some zinc oxide and other oils to create my natural bee-free sunblock for fragile mucosal skin. Will be experimenting with a vegan option as well.
Anyone have any experience with bulk shea butter? Did you smear it on or melt it first? I hear a little goes a long way. I bought two pounds. Here's hopin.
