Any opinions on the use of copper rods vs. stainless steel rods vs. silver rods for feet and hand held contacts?

Am using copper wrapped in papertowels with slight salt solution to improve the conductivity. But research is suggesting to get away from the copper hand helds and go with stainless steel. And of course wondered... how about something like silver or nickel plated silver contacts?

Thoughts?
