Does anyone use apple cider vinegar with the iodine drops?

I just purchased some Lugol's 5% Iodine and on the label it recommends mixing the drops with apple cider vinegar.

1 tsp of apple cider vinegar for slight acidification in 8 oz. of pure / distilled water.

I was just wondering if that is the best way to take it, or if I can take it without the apple cider vinegar...
