Re: me, my baby, a website

"He's buff, so strong, and so interested in everything. Crawling, standing, not quite walking." THAT is the important thing:)

Warthog, I don't know how they test newborn's thyroid function. It could very well be that the testing is inaccurate, just as TSH testing is inaccurate. Perhaps newborn's thyroid levels vary, in fact they do. I have not researched this beyond this initial search, I'll leave that to you:

But yes, it's a mystery as to why he was hypo and not hyper. It seems that IDD on the part of the mother contributes to newborn hypo.

You made the best decision under the circumstances, IMO. People are remarkably resilient and children even moreso. Let us know how it goes, please! I WOULD look into getting him on to armour, though. Hopefully he'll be off the synthroid soon...hopefully he won't need the armour!

With your knowledge of nutrition I see only the brightest future for this young man:)

And...as far as people being blown off. Well, you've been around for just about as long as this forum has been around. In the early days we had our share of detractors and trolls, some posters were definitely here to debate and instill doubt and fear. There are lots of threads in the Debate Forums . As far as individuals negative experiences with iodine, those messages/threads have NOT been hidden. Search Unyquity's posts, they're all here. Grzbr's too, although his are mostly in debate. Those are two that stand out in my mind.

There ARE a lot of video-posting threads hidden, a lot of banter:)

I will certainly link to your posts when a mom-to-be asks about supplementing Iodine in the future. Your experience is a first, for this forum.

Now, why can japanese women get 13mg Iodine per day and not have hypo kids? Perhaps because they are physiologically adapted to those high levels?
I think that we should stop looking towards the japanese as a model of Iodine sufficiency, and see what works for a previously iodine-deficient populace.

I don't think that iodine deficiency can be corrected in one generation.

Love to you and your family. I LOVE the Willamette valley- paradise:)
