Re: opiates
Ain't a question of which ones work - they all do, to a greater or smaller extent - more like which ones you can score a scriipt for or w/o a prescription. Unless you live in San Fran or Afghanistan, doesn't matter that one's better or worse, you either can or cannot get your paws on it, and that is the part which counts. Pain's different, too, and some people need lighter medications which do not sedate them much (codeine, tramadol, etc.), while others require so much pain control that a heavy and drowsy med is the best pick.
Do note that Vicodin, Vicuprofen, some of the oxycodones, APAP/caf/codeine, and other compound pills are toxic, though.
Also, try to remember that these things ARE HELLISHLY ADDICTIVE. However, if you're a chronic pain patient who is chugging NSAIDs by the bottleload and has been for years, and clearly will be on pain meds for the rest of your days, then addictive may just be a better choice than toxic - cause, hell, even the most hardcore (pharmaceutical-grade) morphine isn't going to cause organ damage, and daily use of NSAIDS *will* kill you eventually.
See, junkies have nuked systems b/c they mainline street drugs laced with god knows what in unsanitary conditions and don't take care of themselves, not because of the opiates in the concoctions they abuse. DRUG ABUSE is harmful and dangerous - legitimate doctor-supervised pain control with opiates isn't.
