Re: Some input
I've tried this to "test" how well it works. In my opinion, the o-t-c pill form is at best a placebo. Maybe I'm too young, or... it doesn't work very well post-processing.
I think that the major issue with herbs is efficacy post-sale off the shelf. Maybe Maca works best fresh, who knows. Until we can grow Maca and try it fresh from the garden or get someone to ship a fresh root, we won't truly know for sure.
In my opinion the main reason capsules fail so often is because people tend to way under dose themselves with capsules. The cost of capsuling significantly increases the cost of the herb. And the average capsule contains a small amount (500mg or less) of herb. If people take the amount of capsules they need to get the amount they really should take then they will go through a bottle in less than 10 days. This can get real costly real fast so they tend to under dose themselves to make the bottle they bought last longer.
As for maca the traditional use is to eat the root. Having maca root for a meal gives you a lot more maca than you would get from taking a couple of capsules daily. And consuming more is going to give more benefit in this case.
