Notice, the part where they go into "cyst form", is after he put pencillin with them :( That's what happens with Antibiotics . You can also see why a "Lyme colony" could feel like a big parasite.

I have to look for the other ones- the one where the spirochete blows up the blood cell is especially interesting.
