Re: Screwed up circumcision
"If you will do this for a baby boy, then when he is adult, it will look like he has been circumcised."
I am sorry but this is just not the case. I agree with some of the other advice. Retract the foreskin early and carefully. Not as early as suggested, but he should be able to retract it and clean it himself by the time he knows what to call it.
My brothers and I were not circumcised. We were taught to retract and clean our glans whenever we bathed. From the time I could remember. My nephews have been taught to do the same.
None of us had our foreskins shrink up or in any way stay above the glans by its self. I have read that it can happen. I really just cant imagine it.
In high school and early college I wished my foreskin would stay retracted and that it would look like I had been circumcised. It was embarrassing to get stared at and laughed at. If there was a way to make it happen I would have found it.
Fortunately none of had a tight foreskin either. I think that this is because we retracted it regularly while we were growing up.
I have read a lot of information about not retracting the foreskin too early and how it is a personal and magical experience to have happen in a boys teens. It is just my opinion but no! I can't believe that someone would wait to retract it past one or two years. No wonder there are so many people having to deal with tight foreskin issues and late circumcision. I come from a really large family and of the 40 plus nephews and cousins none have had this problem.
I understand that some time is needed for the glans to separate from the foreskin. However, I am certain (from memory) that if a boy is cold and had to urinate (when his foreskin is tightly puckered from the cold) it will balloon out and forcibly separate from the glans. Really, even if you life in the tropics this has probably still happened at least a few times by age two.
Mineral oil and other things mentioned in the above article are good ideas to keep a torn foreskin from adhering to a damaged glans and to comfort irritation.
I am realizing that it does not have to be retracted and cleaned regularly for infection fighting, but once again from my experience; it has a strong odor and needs to be cleaned regularly.
I hope this helps. I keep reading all kinds of information from doctors and "scientists" and I am starting to question my life experience. I just wanted to put my two cents out there.
