Re: Still on Mirena - terrible Indigestion

I developed horrible heartburn and reflux AFTER Mirena removal. I had stomach problems that began with Mirena, but never the acid indigestion until after removal -- there are a few other ladies on this board with the same story, it has something to do with hormone rebalancing. Luckily, the horrible 24/7 heartburn and reflux faded after about 2 months for me. Another woman on this board, srharder, unfortunately developed heartburn after removal which has not yet gone away. I think we are at the mercy of hormones in flux here. Progesterone and progestins play a strong role in heartburn -- that's why pregnant women experience it! I have also read other stories on Medications.com of women who have not had Mirena removed yet with reflux and heartburn as a side effect of Mirena.
