14 weeks post surgical removal and no period

I had Mirena inserted Dec. 2006 when my son was 6 weeks old. For over 2 years I thought the horrible exhaustion and anger was because my son had a medical condition. Then I started to wonder why I still felt this way months after he was well. I talked to my Dr. at my annual April 2009, and he said 1 in 20 women have trouble with Mirena. I should have had it taken out right then! But I was afraid of getting pregnant.

A month later I started having horrible very low back pain, across my hips. After a couple of months it started going down my legs. In July I had a back X-ray, which was supposedly negative for back pain. Ha! I spent $500 on tests and physical therapy. By the end of Sept. the pain was intolerable. I’d seen my OB/GYN twice over the summer and he said the back pain had nothing to do with Mirena. So did my primary. I finally went to have the IUD out in Oct. and he couldn’t find it! Twenty minutes with progressively longer hooks, no pain meds. Then I had to pay to have a vaginal scope while I was under anesthesia. Couldn’t find it. He said it probably fell out. Now back pain 24/7 for 5 months.

Soon I was in so much pain on my tail bone I could barely walk. Again he said it wasn’t Mirena. I went and picked up my X-ray from months before to check it. Lo and behold! The evil thing was way off to the side! As soon as he saw the x-ray he scheduled a laprotomy. So on the third try it was removed Oct. 2009. It had gone UP MY TUBE and was lodged in my bowel!!!!!

So, 14 weeks post removal and still no period. Maybe because I had it almost 3 years? I feel a little less irritable, but the exhaustion is not any better. The tail bone pain and pain down legs stopped right away, but across the hips still hurts. I think having my period would help. I called Dr. again and he prescribed provera to start it again. But that is progestin, which is how I got into this mess to begin with!! What to do?
