I picked up a copy of your wonderful book "success Stories of an Herbalist Student" and love it. In the first couple of chapters you describe treating bone injuries with a Comfrey soak and B F & C (cut) made into a poultice. My daughter called yesterday to tell me that she woke up and couldn't walk on her right foot. She'd been exercising and had no previous sign that anything was wrong, but woke up to swelling and slight discoloration. I took her to the doctor for an xray and they said that she had a "stress fracture"--perhaps an old one, but maybe new--they couldn't tell. I decided to try the Comfrey soak (would have used the B F & C poultice, but couldn't find it at our Health Food store). I boiled it down and and made a strong "tea" out of it and had her soak her foot in the strained tea for 30 minutes. Today she woke up and called to say that her foot no longer hurts (yesterday she could barely walk and was using crutches)and there is no indication that there is an injury. She and my husband are snickering at the idea that this Comfrey soak had anything to do with this "miracle" healing. My question is could it have worked that fast? One thirty minute soak? She said she was rolling her ankle around and heard a pop and that it just quit hurting and she's not even limping. This seems a little crazy even to me, but I wanted to know if this result is atypical in such a short period of time or if we are really just looking at a coincidence...Can an inflamaiton be taken care of "just like that"?
