i think this must be what people are most "disagreeing" with, besides, that is, a 'gut-feeling' about the veracity of the article (not the good intentions of the poster).

Actually the original statement is right on. The body regulates its pH through a variety of mechanisms. Even if you drank a cup of baking soda the body would quickly adjust its pH back down quickly because being too alkaline is just as dangerous as being too acidic. This is why we rarely see cases of acidosis of alkalosis. Again the body has numerous ways to deal with acidifying substances and alkalinizing substances because the body does have such a narrow pH range for health. So regardless of what you eat, whether it be acidifying or alkalinizing the body will just adjust its pH back to normal except in very rare cases such as some metabolic disturbances or poisonings.
