Oh jeez, how do I say this? I'm just going to throw a few thoughts out there, in my usual rambling, incoherent way:) la la la...:)

My X was a massage therapist and went on to become an acupuncturist. He quit both for a time, because people were just sucking the energy out of him. Reminds me of a law student I knew that said that at one point he wanted to go work for the ACLU but then went into tax law because he realized that he did not like poor people.

I guard my energy as well, lovey. I have had more than a few friendships(and, "relationships") which entailed mucho giving on my part without a lot of payback.

The interchange that I cited was trivial, but it was a little bit of positive energy exchange, it is possible.

People DO intrude, no doubt. Good for you for drawing a line. Just don't let past experiences determine the outcomes of new ones. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. And make sure you get yours. 

And look out for the psychic vampires, they're everywhere!
