oh jeez I think it was in an oliver sacks book I read about a type of neural "abnormality" in which the "patients" BS detectors were on high alert at all times. So finely tuned they could detect BS through the telly. I believe the snippet I recall had them laughing uproariously at GW Bush on TV...
I did some shopping today. At one shop, the cashier looked deflated, I asked if she was alright. I went on to say that she seemed as though she was not feeling well to me. She visibly brightened at the acknowledgment of her pain and confided that she thought that she was alright but her energy was draining. I suggested that it might have something to do with the weather(very damp and cold, not a common weather pattern here). That seemed to relieve her.
That's kinda o/t, not sure why I'm mentioning, except that with every interchange we have with another, we can choose to acknowledge their humanity and make a positive connection. or not.
