I am reading the anti-inflammation zone by dr barry sears. He believes that poor health stems from flammation and that taking high dose ultra-refined fish oil and following a diet that is low in omega 6 is the way to go with a light excercise program. He says by doing this you will feel a difference within a week and a major difference within a month. Things improved are mental clarity, pain, and losing the body fat and adding more muscle, and regulating insulin levels.
He doesn't mention anything about coconut oil in the book, but the reason it is supposed to be better for cooking is that the molecular structure doesn't change at high temperatures to change it to a bad fat. Olive oil is still alright for cooking as long as it is not heated to a certain temperature. He recommends olive oil, but italien high quality oil that has a buttery taste to it not a oily taste, as it contains something that plays a role against inflammation.
According to him, 3000 mg of regular omega 3 fish oil will not do much if a person contines to eat foods or cook foods that are omega 6 rich. It is the balance that is key.
