Re: The myth of phytic acid robbing the body of minerals

My bottle of IP6 says to not take it at the same time of the day as you take minerals; as it is a very efficient chelator of minerals. Take it on an empty stomach.

I'm running out of empty stomachs.

Myth or otherwise, it is hard to ignore such instructions from a vendor like Jarrow. It is a simple precaution to follow.

There is a big difference between taking isolated phytic acid and getting phytic acid from seed sources. When taking it from a seed source the phytic acid will already be bound to minerals from the plant. In order to take toxic metals or minerals from the body the phytic acid would have to give up the minerals it is bound to. If taking phytic acid in an isolate form it is not bound so it will grab metals or minerals without an exchange. Therefore as an isolate it would be better tao take on an empty stomach.
