Re: Eye Bath
Just fyi everybody,
Remember, the amount of alcohol in a typical dose of tincture (around 2 droppersful, which is approximately 60 drops) is equal in alcohol content to what we get in a ripe banana. So when we're talking a few single drops of a tincture that's 50% alcohol, that's mixed with a few teaspoons of water, we're talking SERIOUSLY minimal.
Dr. Christopher never made a liquid formula (that I've ever seen or read, and I'm pretty sure I have everything he ever wrote, plus some of his unpublished writings). Dr. Christopher DID sell the loose herbs for making the Eyebright formula tea...to use as an eyewash, and then drink the tea.
Dr. Schulze was the first to make it into a tincture (because people just don't have time to make the tea, and end up not making/using it). Thousands have used his tincture over the years safely.
Dr. Christopher's children now market a tincture (36-42% grain alcohol), but since they no longer use pure/organic herbs, one could be dousing their eyes with all manner of toxic fertilizers, pesticides & herbicides (including DDT, which is still allowed in the 3rd world countries where most herbs are grown). MH also doesn't concern himself with using organic herbs either...and you'd need to check with him on his formula, because he's altered many of Dr. Christopher's formulas.
Also, as I posted before, there's a vast different in the Heat Units in various peppers, even the same exact type (depending upon growing locations). So it's expected that the same amount of drops from one source, could produce a different level of sting/burn, than another...even if they use the exact same formula.
And that's my .02 worth :)
