I have one of these and to answer your questions the flashing light mean that you need to clean the filter.

to clean the filter
if you press the black button on the front of the device about 2 inches down from the top and directly below the power button the lid will open exposing the filter, pull it out. once out you will need to seporate it in to the four part that make it up.

to disassemble the filter
unscrew the top cap and set it aside then turn the filter upside down an apply a small amount of even pressure to the threaded part sticking out this will free the inner filter parts just repeat the above step un til you have three metal tubes and one srew cap and just clean them with mild soap and warm water and set aside to dry. once dry just reassemble the filter and place back in the device.

the sliding thing on the back is for clean the wires that do the air pre charging and can be moved only with the filter out. there is also a UV light on the inside.
