Re: Subconjunctival hemorrhage (red eye)

Hello There,

Eye problems have been my biggest symptom with all birth control, but it took mirena screwing up my whole system to finally make the connection. Years of continuous use (no Sugar pill week) Mircette kicked off my severe dry eye and led to corneal ulceration and corneal scarring. Eye problems can take a long time to heal, but luckily the dry eye got much better between 6-8 months off the pill. However, I am still on dry eye medication (Restasis) and may be for the rest of my life. Mirena brought dry eye back in an awful way along with all of the scary auto-immune type problems everybody else has been having, and horrible stomach issues.

I'm happy to say that after almost 6 months post mirena, I'm definitely having eye and stomach flares around my period, but like nearly everybody on this board says, my worst days are nothing compared to my best days with Mirena. Plus I no longer have aching joints, even around my period! I know dry eye is not exactly the same as a subconjunctival hemmorage, but just to let you know, eye health can be majorly affected by hormones. It doesn't seem like they are affected too commonly, but the damage and discomfort can be severe.

Best of luck in recovery! Be kind to your eyes in the meantime!
