Re: Alcohol?

"Actually if you are out in the cold then alcohol should be avoided at all costs. Alcohol dilates the blood vessels near the skin making you feel warmer, but it actually cuases you to lose heat faster putting you in to a hypothermic state faster."

How does it make you lose heat faster? Any links? Mythbusters tested the saint bernard saving the people with alcohol theory. One of them was put in a cold room and had their temp shown by light; red colour showing the warmth of the body. When his temp was really low, he was given alcohol and he felt warmer and the red tones started coming back. It could have been just suface warmth as I am not knowledgable about the testing, but he wasn't complaining. Maybe it just makes you die happier...lol
