I just thought of something else. Does your skin have a cherry red look to it? Or when they took your blood was it red? This could indicate carbon monoxide binding of the hemoglobin. In this case your hemoglobin and hematocrit would be normal to high depending on concentration and length of exposure, but would still act like anemia in the body since the hemoglobin would be unusable.
