Need Help And Advice With Diabetes 2 Alternatives PLEASE HELP!!
This is my first post on curezone and I hope someone can give me some guidance that i really need and want! I am a 45 year old woman with type 2 diabetes. I am overweight and am on Metformin 1000mg a day. I went to my doctor and she added Glipizide XL to my medications. I did not like what I read about this drug! I do not want to take it at all! She would've put me on a higher dose of Metformin rather than the Glipizide, but I have been having trouble for the past few weeks with diarrhea. Although I have been on Metformin for over a year, I have read that it can sometimes start causing diarrhea later on. Anyhow, last night, I decided that I wanted to try to leave off Metformin and Glipizide for good (I've never even taken the first dose of the Glipizide!)So I did not take any metformin last night or this morning. My BG level this a.m. was 152. I took it again at 12:30 p.m. and it was 124 (I hadn't eaten anything since rising nor drank any sugary drinks). I ate sensibly and then 2 hours after eating, I took my BG level again. It was 223! So I immediately took it in another finger and it was 195! This bothered me because it seems to indicate that I need to take the Metformin, but I really hate it! I've read up on diabetes alternatives like banaba, fenugreek, bitter melon, cinnamon, gynema sylvestre, chromium picolinate, and so on. I am willing to take these, but have no idea about how much, when, etc.
I've been taking ALA, magnesium taurate, B vitamins, and have taken some suplements mentioned previously in the past, but I'm just not sure how to go about this!
I haven't the money to buy his book, but I read online about a Dr. Whitaker who treats diabetes w/o drugs and he said that it is better to not take diabetes drugs at all because they cause more trouble than help. That actually the diabetes isn't as dangerous as the drugs!
Please somebody talk to me here!
Thank you!
