Re: Strong Odor after IUD removal

Hi Srharder!

Sorry I never got back to you directly after my GI appt. I was pretty disappointed with my appt. and plan to go see another doctor. This GI doctor basically told me to take PPI's (ie nexium, prilosec) and schedule an endoscopy. I was anticipating both of these responses, but was hoping to find a doctor who would listen to me and possibly discuss the hormonal aspect of my reflux and heartburn, or tell me if he'd seen it before. This doctor was obviously behind schedule, and wanted to get in and out as soon as possible. He looked at me as though I was an idiot when I told him I didn't want to take antacids or PPIs (which is another story, for another forum, that I was diagnosed with food intolerances , and didn't want to hear about anything hormonal. It was a big, allopathic hospital, so I wasn't expecting much more, but I did get the name of a GI specialist from my mother's friend who survived colon cancer and has been through a lot of docs. I plan on seeing him once I make an appointment. If your heartburn persists, I would definitely go get an endoscopy. I'm gonna do this, but I would rather go through a doc whom I trust and isn't in such a hurry to get me in and out of there.

How are you feeling these days?
