IMO, you haven't given enough information to go on. Do you need his support because you are going through a crisis? Or do you mean you need his support on a day to day basis as you go through life? Is he your SO? Sibling? Parent? Friend?

Sorry to say (again without knowing more details) you can't make someone give you his support. He has to willingly do so. Sad to say, sometimes you just have to accept that this person isn't going to be a part of your life any longer and you must work on moving on.

As for issues with your mother, we do tend to get attracted to people who are like our mothers---whether it's consciously or sub-consciously. If you are attracted to people who don't treat you well, then you must work on changing this aspect of yourself.
