re Julia Chang and her assertion that TCM doesn't "understand hormones". TCM doesn't recognize blood pressure, elevated liver enzymes or a ton of other orthodox modern concepts, either. TCM also doesn't recognize liver stones, either - that would come under a diagnosis of "liver stagnation", where they know that "something" is causing a disruption of chi flow thru the liver, but they don't know - or care - precisely what it is.

My opinion is that a smart Dr. of TCM could maybe have fixed Julia up even without knowing about hormones.

There are deficiencies in TCM just as there are deficiencies in the approaches of herbalists/alternative practitioners who are dealing with liver & gall stones, and parasites. It is better to have some knowledge of both systems. From my point of view, I could never have come to my bowel, stone & parasite flushing efforts (thru herbs) without knowing what I do about TCM. I am grateful that I was led to an interest in TCM many years ago. It does at least give you a framework. It is priceless knowledge. Tweet
