[Many people do flushes without parasite cleansing, and it's one issue dividing people right in the middle. Any author's experiences are just as valuable as your own, and here's a alternate opinion, in the interest of inviting further serious debate and hopefully even scientific confirmation.]

What follows is a quote from Moritz' book The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse:
(himself one of the many who apparently cured themselves of serious liver illness through flushes):

"Cleansing of the liver and colon, and eating a balanced diet rich in fresh, alkaline-forming foods, are among the most effective ways to prevent and treat parasitic infestation; the killing of parasites does not address its cause and may only have limited benefits, if any.)
As more and more toxic substances begin to accumulate or linger in the intestinal tract, the lymph and blood start absorbing some of these harmful substances. These leads to progressive congestion of the lymphatic system and thickening of the blood. All of this overtaxes the liver and excretory functions."

Furthermore, complications after a flush may not be the result of having skipped Dewormers prior to it but rather of not cleansing the colon post-flush, as in the following post from someone who ended with all the debris stuck in the colon for too long, plastered to the walls, where it caused pain and toxemia: -check the response given -

Pioneer had a recent post on thorough colon cleansing, I recall.
