Making giving up coffee a little easier
Hello Kristi
Many years ago, I also used to drink several cups of coffee a day. I haven't touched a cup in a many years now and no longer even like the idea or the smell.
There are easier ways to transition into being a non coffee drinker than plain green tea. I hope some of my suggestions will help ease some of your discomfort.
One of the products that was really useful for me was Teechino: http://www.teeccino.com/ProductsList.aspx?ProductCategoryID=1&ProductCate...
You should be able to find it in some health stores and other online sites. It tastes really nice and there are several varieties to choose from.
To make it creamy you can add some nut milk .... like almond milk, which you can buy or make yourself.
To make almond milk - get 1 cup of raw almonds and soak them for half a day (12-14 hours), rinsing the water a few times. Then put the almonds in a blender with a pinch of good sea salt and 2 cups of water. Blend until frothy. Using a nut milk bag or a sieve, drain out the nut milk ... it's delicious, and you can use that as your creamer. Use less water to make it thicker if you wish. Store any unused nut milk in the fridge. (You can use hazelnuts the same way too.)
Instead of the teechino, you could also try geen tea chai, it's stronger and more flavourful than plain green tea.
To sweeten, add a little stevia or birch xylitol. Normally, I don't like stevia, but if you do a search for 'Wisdom Stevia' they have some wonderful flavourful ones with little aftertaste. The toffee and vanilla are quite nice (and healthy too!) :-)
Hopefully this will help your transition period become a little more comfortable, it did for me. I no longer drink teechino or green tea ... but while I still craved the taste of coffee, they were really useful.
Know that you are not giving up anything, you are actually making a conscious effort to gaining abundant health! Good for you :-)
Best wishes
