The light yoke of the One who is meek and lowly in heart
Justin,
Like it or not most other people judge you by your attitude first rather than your actions. Adopting an attitude of tolerance encourages others to be tolerant of you.
An aspect of moreless that gets lost in all this debate is that he truly has a "live and let live" philosophy so long as people are willing to take personal responsibility for the consequences of their choices.
His catch phrase "Smil 'Tis Your Choice" has been parodied but my experience with him is that deep down this is how he lives his life.
On the other hand, his ego or flesh just like the rest of our egos is prone to argue and he has the gift of determination which in combination creates sort of pitbull-like behavior when it comes to discussion.
Most of the interactions that people were offended with Moreless were tainted by both sides choosing the intention of "winning the argument" rather than "creating understanding".
Unfortunately, even the winner of an argument loses. Because their perceived opponent feels beat down and injured to the point of rejecting the truth that was being offered because of the tone in and packaging in which it was offered.
"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:29-30.
I'd like to offer to those Christians that like to be bold in providing testimony and wisdom to others. Focus on living life in the Kingdom of God. Jesus has given you access to the Kingdom. Live your life according to these principles and your example will provide you opportunities to teach willing disciples rather than annoy those who are uninterested in the truth you are willing to offer but seem unable to express in your life.
Additionally for those Christians who receive God's word through thoughtful, Spirit-filled Bible study, I would ask us to pay close attention to the actual words of Jesus. I have found that most modern Christianity focuses very heavy of the writings of Paul. I have found that focusing on Jesus' actual words produces a very different expression of Christianity than most churches are promoting.
