Sore Throat after antibiotics for diarrhea

Issue: Sore throat with blood in phlegm

Background: I work in a hospital. A few months ago, developed diarrhea that lasted 4 weeks. Went to a doctor, received Antibiotics and completed stool analyses. Stool analyses all negative, Antibiotics received was Flagyl (metronidazole) for 10 days. Could only finish 8 days of Flagyl, it tasted horrible. The Flagyl pills were grainy to the touch of tongue, disintegrating almost immediately and tasting like ear wax debris.

Side effects: Flagyl caused all sorts of side effects during the course of taking it. Depression, loss of appetite, dark urine, and slow diarrhea reversal. After stopping Flagyl, 3 days later a sore throat. After sore throat, 3 more days later, a bloody phlegm was spit up. It's been over a month with the blood in phlegm, or a more general term sputum. I also developed Candida symptoms for a month and took a few doses of Nystatin to subdue it. With little effect, I stopped taking it and the Candida cleared on its own.

My conclusion: Based on stopping Flagyl, it correlates that Flagyl may have killed my throat flora and caused an opportunistic bacteria, virus, fungi, or other effect that caused an initial sore throat. Given the nature of blood occurring nearly a week after stopping Flagyl, I assume it is responsible either directly or indirectly. The diarrhea is gone for the most part, I have regular bowel movements at least once a day. However, I do sense a lot of extra gas is generated no matter what types of foods I eat. I've lost a good portion of faith in Antibiotics and will refuse them at every moment.

Question: Are there natural remedies for a sore and bloody throat?

I have a lot of phlegm build up in the back of my throat that covers the bloody area. I assume it protects it while it heals, but I feel like I need to spit up phlegm at most one time a day. There is only a little blood, it's not from my sinuses or lungs. I also did a chest x-ray to rule out TB.

Any advice is welcome.
