I am not sure exactly how the mechanics works, but in some forums only the positive votes are recorded - which I find misleading, but such is the way it is.  I would guess that at the same time you pressed the disagree someone else pressed an agree and that would explain why the agree votes increased rather than your vote being misapplied.
