screaming baby, is it colic?

HI Dr Mom, the last 2 nights my 3 week old has been screaming. It's so upsetting. I have been reading why this might be and it sounds like it could be colic. It is usually much worse in the evenings and he screams hysterically and no amount of consoling seems to help. He sleeps well during the day and reasonably well during the night but 6-11 is an awful time for him and us. We end us rocking him and shhing him loudly to calm him down. He also doesn't feed well on the breast around this time, he gets upset and pulls off me and gets all tense. I am going to start the elimination diet, no diary, chocolate, caffine etc. I read something about fennel. Is this something I should take, if so in what form? Also, can I give him anything to help? He does have runny stools and passes lots of gas. Thanks so much for advice. Tweet
