Also, please look in to EFT. It stands for emotional free training. It helps release trauma and trauma by "tapping" a series of accupressure sites. http://www.emofree.com
It is easy to learn and will help release the old trauma.

Bach flower remedies can help too. Rescue Remedy is good when you're feeling anxious or panicky. There are a few that will help:

Agrimony- for inner torture
Gorse - for desperation and hopelessness
Walnut - adjustment to change
Crab Apple - for shame and disgust
Gentian - for Depression with known cause
Heather - for obsession with own troubles (obsessive thoughts)

Once you get the individual remedies, you would take an empty glass bottle with dropper (sterilized) and put 2-4 drops of each remedy in the bottle, fill 2/3 up with good bottled spring water and top off with brandy. To dose, take a dropperful in water several times a day. You can also put drops on your wrist and rub in. You can take rescue remedy straight from the bottle.

Please don't beat yourself up further by the fact that you don't remember fighting back. You survived, you could have been killed. Remember, you were a child. Keep telling your adult self that. You're taking self-defense classes -- GREAT, keep it up!! That will help you get your self esteem back.

You survived because of a reason. You began taking self-defense classes for a reason. Perhaps one day, you can take your experience and put it to good use: become a rape counselor, get better laws passed for the victims and stronger laws to put rapists away. I'm just guessing here. But you are meant for bigger and better things. But first and foremost, you are a survivor, be proud of that. You are strong, revel in that.
