I’ve been listening to Dr. Christopher’s lecture on the bowel and how its supposed to operate. I learned something I’d never heard before. He said that our bowel movements are not supposed to be formed. Anytime its formed, constipation is there and that means there is still mucus present to make the forming. He says a proper bowel movement is one that is a loose bowel movement but not in a diarrhea type runny form. But just a mass coming out in a way that is comfortable and easy, meaning that when you are going and you’re done you might think you haven’t had much of a movement and you get up and look and the toilet bowl is full, then you’ll know that your bowel is working properly because it comes out so easy and fast. Anytime its formed there is mucus present.
We should have at least 3 to 5 bowels movements a day. One when you get up in the morning, one before you go to bed at night, and one after each of our three meals a day. The least we should have is 3 movements a day but preferably 5 a day.
I’ve always thought that our bowel movements were supposed to be S shaped simply because I heard Dr. Oz say that’s the way it is supposed to be. Now I know that if they are formed then we’ve got mucus in us which is forming the movements. Thank God I’ve leaned the correct way now, better late than never I say!
