Re: Husband has spinal stenosis---advice needed please
Hi bluerose,
Just clicking around the different stuff here on CZ and seen your post…it’s a little late..but perhaps you have not done much yet…anyway FYI…
spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the open (as I'm sure you have read) as the spinal’s nerves leave and travel into the butt…legs. My mom had the surgery in 2001 but when they did the clearing out around this opening…they also additionally ..had to put a small rod at the lower two vertebrates they needed spacing as they could see within the other surgery‘s facts…so it (second surgery) was done then too… took another 3 or 4 hours.all in all about 7 hours.
The surgery worked as the pain was gone…but she also had balance issues in walking before the surgery…the balance remained unchanged… (now we know it was Parkinson’s and now looking back the dementia).
Don’t know if your husband has swelling that is adding to the mix or narrowing of the hole the nerves runs thru…as an increase because of swelling in that section. If he has swelling..then the msm powder would help as it is on my weekly if not daily use it list because of joint damaged either internal or making a lotion for well…where every it‘s needed it is so so so helpful for me…been using for about 14 years. You do need to take more than what you would get in a bottle at walmart…I get the powder (in bulk) from msm-msm.com..good service and price.
AS to the hang-up…inversion table…I’ve had one for about 12 years…as I have back and hip pains from an auto accident. I don’t use it regular …but the help is great…when nothing else works…I had to bring it downstair and set it up two weeks ago…it is a big help. I just don’t know if it would help…as your husband has a narrowing around this hole..as we can’t see what is within this very small hole that is in bone…it could make things worse by siding the nerve back and forth within that small hole…perhaps it could break something loose to make more room... more of an opening…just doesn’t sound reasonable given nerves are electrical and you could rub the insulation off the nerve..and that would not be helpful at all.
Hope some of this helps…bluerose…it is not good to be fixed within pain’s hold to not moving about…trying to let a nerve settle down…no fun at all.
