Re: hirsutism hormone test-need your help!
>I was wondering just the same thing, so that's really useful info, thanks.
Glad it's of some use to someone. Though for myself I reckon that even the best hormone tests are more of interest than of tremendous help. If we've serious amounts of facial hair it's because one way or another our bodies are responding to "male" hormones in the same sort of way as males respond. The big question is how we address the situation. For me, the answer is to acknowledge the fact that though I'm a fully-functional female with a family, my body produces and responds to male hormones in the same way as a man's. And as far as the facial hair goes, I deal with in exactly the same way as my husband and sons and shave. Nor do I find any problem in referring to my facial hair as "my moustache" or "my beard" as appropriate. I've always found that it helps to be matter-of-fact when I refer to it.
> Just one question though - whats SHBG?
It's the chemical compound that most females produce to lock up their production of testosterone and render it inactive. The testosterone which is not locked up or "bound" is what affects our bodies.
