Providing the growth is not currently hormonally fuelled. So a hormonal work-up is a wise precaution before putting out money on electrolysis. Doesn't work well on hair that's been repeatedly waxed, plucked or threaded.

Poor-quality electrolysis can and does scar.

Very true. It can also cause electrolysis to fail because of the distorted follicles which the technician can't get the needle right down.

Your hormones must have been largely back in balance before the electrolysis started. Was it all coarse hair before? How did you remove it before the electrolysis? How often?
For the moustache growth of male proportions that I've had since I was a teenager, I reckon that shaving's the best answer, but for lighter growths I agree that there are other options of which electrolysis stands the best chance of proving permanent, albeit with risks of scarring and not being able to deal effectively with areas that have been repeatedly waxed or plucked.
