Re: info on threading facial hair...

Hi,

I have copied and pasted some information from a couple of different websites, explaining what threading is...basically its an indian/middle eastern technique of removing hair using a twisted piece of cotton thread, its becoming more and more popular in salons. The second link gives you step-by-step instructions of how to do it yourself, although it is advisable to go to a salon first off to see how its done correctly.

What is threading?
Threading is an ancient method of hair removal which orininated in China and is still used in many countries in the Middle East as well as India and Pakistan . It is used to give clean lines and good shape to the eye-brows and also remove hair from the upper lip and other facial areas.

How does it work?
100% cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin entwining the hair in the thread which is then lifted out from the follicle.

How long before hair returns?
About the same as with tweezing, anywhere between 3 and 9 weeks.

How does it affect the skin?
The effects are less than with other hair removal methods such as tweezing, waxing or sugaring. The skin may get a little red and sore but only a slight pinch is felt as a relatively large area is covered each time. Unlike waxing or the use of depilatories, irritation and skin rashes are avoided as the top layer of dead skin is not stripped off in the process.

You can thread every week
You get a clean result with sharp lines
Threading doesn't scar or pinch the skin
Because the hair is removed directly from the root, you don't get ingrown hairs
Threading can be done on all parts of the face
