I am rather into physics this is a tidbit from there which you may find relevant.

1) Ozone hole has been discovered only when the technology for its monitoring has been developed. No one has a clue if it has been up in the sky since the time of dinosaurs or Herod.

2) Ozone depletion has been discovered at the time when Dupont patents on fluorochlorocarbons was just about running out and they had patentable alternatives already developed.

3) The active ozone depletion ingredient is free gaseous chlorine, not the FCCs. FCCs are broken by ultraviolet light into its components including gaseous chlorine. You hear it? FCCs are broken by ultraviolet light into its components. This means that FCCs, if anything, filter UV as much as ozone would, if not more.

4) Oceans are by far the greatest producer of atmospheric chlorine there is, closely followed by volcanoes. Somewhere far behind are all man made chlorine releases, industrial and commercial combined.

5) Spray can and cooling FCCs have been outlawed as ozone depleting substance. Swimming pool, drinking water chlorination and industrial chlorine releases are still leagal, even though they account for much greater atmospheric chlorine gas release than FCCs ever did.
