Every thing that is grown in the ground and every living thing is by its very nature 'organic'. I am organic, as I am not made of metal or dirt or plastic. In Aus we are increasingly seeing the word 'organic' to describe a wide range of produce, which of course is technically true, all produce is organic. To differentiate between merely 'organic' and chemical free, producers of 'products grown using organic farming methods', are now labeling their produce as chemical and pesticide free.
This is why I believe we are seeing more produce labeled 'organic', in the belief that people connect this word with organically grown produce. Its all semantics really. Its much the same as calling sweets 99% fat free, and leaving out the fact that they are nearly entirely made of sugar. It behoves us as consumers to be fully aware of the tricks these advertising people use to get us to believe that this rubbish food is healthy for us.
