Hello Paulette!
It is really great to have a person like you here, with all your patience, common sence and ability to see best in people. Thank you for that!
I have no doubts that your homeland looks wonderful, so does every corner of this planet to me. Through my life I travelled to quite considerable number of places in totally different countries. They are all so different and each of them is geat. I try to learn the best from every nation.
I heared a lot of different opinions on many existing international issues directly from the sources. It surely does not make me an expert in political intentions of the countries, but I can at least tell you what is true and what is lies about their every day life, because I was living this everyday life together with them. For example, Iraqi women are not in any way obliged to cover their faces (30-40% CHOOSE to do so), abortions are free will there...
How many of the people, who claim to know how life is there and what is best for Iraqi people, actually had a nice family dinner with them, unformally chatting with them about all kinds of things?
I did not quite get your last question, but if your husband is asking about "strong" sports in Russia ... Well, if you remember Olimpic games in Salt Lake City (fairly called "the dirtiest Olimpic games in the history"), just check for scandals around Russian National Team. Well, no surprise, those were the strongest representatives...
All in all, we do get excited and proud watching ski races, hockey, figure skating, gymnastics, tennis, swimming and many other sports.
Good health to you!
I am getting afraid of using the name of God here, it has already been used very inappropriately on this forum for several times...
