Suffered edema after taking magnesium citrate supplement

Hi,

I suffer recurrent kidney stones and leg cramps, which, I believe, indicates magnesium deficiency. Therefore, I took 300 mg of magnesium citrate supplement (Peter Gillham's Natural Clam.) yesterday in divided doses. This morning, I noticed edema in my legs and put on 1.5 lbs. I felt slight lower back pain and weak knees and legs

Could anyone help me to address my magnesium deficiency without hurting my kidneys and causing edema. Of course, I can eat more magnesium-rich food, but I don't think it is sufficient to cure my magnesium deficiency. Could reducing the dose help?

Thanks in advance
