Re: Oil of Oregano for Sinus infection in toddler

I would not hesitate to use oregano oil - it is wonderful for killing infections. I would also add a drop to some olive oil and gently rub it onto the sinuses when he is asleep. In addition to that, I have copied and pasted a previous post, which deals mainly with ear infections, but many of the suggestions and formulas will also help with sinuses - hope this will give you some new options and ideas.

I am personally not real fond of ear-candling - I would probably only use it for heavy wax build-up. As far as the ear infections go - I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record - but, my first question would be - what is the diet? If there is alot of dairy in the diet, the first thing I would do is eliminate the dairy - many parents have found that just doing this one thing will eliminate constant ear infections.

Since I can't prescribe what to do for your children, let me share what I have done with mine. For the majority of ear infections, I have found the following treatment works well:
- I use some type of liquid yarrow blend formula orally
- usually 1 to 3 dropper fulls every hour while awake
- the formula I use has equal parts of yarrow,
elderflower, echinacea and peppermint
- I use this to boost the immune system and help to
move out the congestion
- In the ear I use:
- warm mullein oil to break up the congestion behind
the ear drum
- warm garlic oil to kill the infection
- a couple of drops of warm lobelia tincture
if needed for pain

I have had alot of success with most ear infections using this program. If it is an extremely bad case where there are swollen glands which will not allow the eustation tubes to drain, then I make a strong tea of 3 parts mullein to 1 part lobelia, soak a cotton cloth in the tea, then wrap it around their neck, over the swollen glands to bring down the swelling. I then use mullein oil or olive oil to gently massage from the back of the ear, along the jaw line to help drain the infection.

I have found, in my experience, that most ear infections are a fairly easy thing to handle at home - occasionally, I have had an ear drum rupture - if this happens, I do not put any more oils in the ear. The ear drum is designed to rupture if the pressure behind it becomes too great. Once the infection drains, the ear drum heals itself. After 10 days or so, if I want to be sure there is no scar tissue, I will put some warm comfrey oil in the ear.

When tubes are put in the ears, it is not curing the infection, it is simply allowing it to drain and when the tubes are removed, it leaves scar tissue. I went through the antibiotic route with my older children - my younger children have been much healthier and stronger since I incorporated a better and safer way to handle these types of problems.
