Your question only reinforces the idea of controlled demolition! Asking us to place reason on the minds of the perpetrators is unreasonable in itself ! But I would imagine if you are having a building wired by controlled demolition experts that they would construct a controlled demolition, that's what they do and of course because of its guaranteed inherent efficiency!!!!
