Re: Darwin's Paradigm is Crumbling
Traderdrew asks if I think that
Science can explain everything and challenged me to prove or disprove the following (assuming I do believe that
Science can explain everything).
"Science explains everything. If
Science cannot explain it, then it must not exist or it never existed."
Science does NOT explain everything. If it did, there would be no need for science. Science is a system of exploring the natural world around us by examining the evidence.
Just because science cannot explain it does not mean that it did not exist. At one time science could not explain what caused the black plague, but it existed. The evidence was everywhere. Some agent was causing people to have "ring around the rosies" and killing off lots of people.
Today, science cannot explain big foot. However, the evidence of big foot is rather dubious. Therefore the chances of big foot existing is near zero. One can reasonably claim there is no big foot. If, however, someone produced a preponderance of evidence for big foot, then science will change its stance on the existence of big foot.
If you do not like the big foot analogy, then stick in unicorns instead. One has to look at the evidence available to them at the time. If the evidence changes, then one may update their claims. It does not matter how strange, how common, or obscure of a claim, the bottom line in science is: "Show me the evidence".
