Thank you for a very helpful and informative post! I'm going to the doctor in about 10 days. I've tried avoiding going because the HMO I belong to is gung-ho when it comes to writing prescriptions but the doctor's nurse called me and said I should come in---sigh! I'm prepared to tell the doctor, if she tries to put me on diabetes meds, that I'm not going on any meds at this time.
I lost about 20 years of my life (so to speak) dealing with IBS-D which worsened after my gallbladder was removed. Time and time again, I would tell the doctors or nurse practitioners about my IBS-D and how it limited what I could eat and kept me from getting proper exercise. I was either blown off or told not to stress out and eat lots of fiber. When I would tell then that didn't work, they just shrugged. The current doctor prescribed a medication that helped gallbladder patients with my problems plus I added coconut to my diet. Between the two, I feel like I've gotten my life back. I will tell the doctor all this and say I want a chance to make up for lost time.
That's why I'm appreciative of posts like yours. Cure Zone has been great. I've learned so much from so many people who post here! Thank you to all who have given me great advice on how to deal with Type 2 Diabetes!
